Kenickety
When adding hoists to a rigging system, the hoists snap to red hoist connection points or loci. Is there any way to modify this in a symbol? Quote Link to comment

This is the hoist and truss establishing their connection for load calculations. What kind of modification are you looking for? 1 Quote Link to comment
Kenickety
I'd like to change the position/shape of the connection with respect to the 2d/3d model. For example, putting an offset basket on a truss, or picking up the front point of a frame. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted August 12 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 12 Hi @Kenickety To make sure I'm understanding correctly you want the hoist to not be restricted to attaching to the centre line of the truss? This is not something that can be changed currently, due to assumptions (engineering term) that Braceworks has to use to be able to perfom a structural calculation. However now that the developement of Braceworks has been brought in house it may be possible to have this behaviour changed in the future. I'll put in an enhancement request. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kenickety
That's correct, I'd like the braceworks snapping loci to be customisable rather than just a centreline on a braceworks object. Just to be clear, this behaviour isn't restricted to trusses, it's the same with all liftable objects. Or atleast to have the option to modify it from a centreline to ensure that hoist positions are accurate. At the moment, I'm using hoist symbols instead of the hoist PIO (and losing all of the associated braceworks functionality) to ensure that the hoists end up in the correct positions. I haven't tried this, but if I wanted to do what you're doing, I would try it... Have you taken a hoist and edited the hoist symbol's overall shape to give a visual offset? I'm wondering if you place a larger invisible shape in the symbol and then move the visible parts to one side; the middle of the symbol would snap to the middle of the truss, but the visual image of the hoist would be offset. Braceworks would still calculate based on the centerline of the load objects. Yes, it's a workaround until when/if the feature can be developed. Quote Link to comment
Kenickety
Offsetting the hoist symbol unfortunately wouldn't offset the symbol positions used in reporting or shown on the co-ordinates. Also, the offset would very much depend on what it was attached to. 1 Quote Link to comment
