Cody Worthman
My i9 MBP took a hard fall yesterday, and it’s forcing me to upgrade ASAP. I’m thinking about going back to a non-laptop option. Is anyone out in Vectorworks land using a Mac Pro tower? From what I can tell, they are able to be upgraded post purchase unlike all the other Apple offerings. Is this a viable option or is there something I’m overlooking? I’ve already priced out a top of the line MacBook Pro, and it’s nearly 6k. It’s not that much more to go Mac pro. If it is upgradable, it could potentially break even once you factor in the cost to purchase another laptop in 3 years. I use Vectorworks, Twinmotion, and several adobe CC apps. thoughts ? Cody Worthman
As it turns out, none of the things I’d want to upgrade on a Mac Pro are upgradable. I would have gone with the studio, but I have hopes that twinmotion will finally support ray tracing on Mac now that the m3 series are out. After a bit of back and forth, I decided on a MacBook Pro with M3 max & 128g of unified memory. Hoping I’ll get a few good years out of it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Good Machine. I got mine about 8 months ago and am very happy. It looks like the MBP may be the only M3 high end machine ever. It looks like they are jumping right to the M4 for the next Studio and Pro. 1 Quote Link to comment
