Vectorworks 2024 - "Look at Working Plane" toolbar button.

Recommended Posts

VW 2023 used to have a look at Working Plane Shortcut/Button in the top toolbar.

VW put this command behind a pulldown menu (alternately in the Right Click - Document Context Menu).  Is there any way to get this back into the top toolbar?  There are times when you really a one-click solution....

Thanks @bcd I do try to search for things before posting.   But I struggle with VW search function.  Eventually, I did find this wish list thread...

Interestingly no VW employee responded regarding why it was removed.  I wonder if anybody at VW saw this.

BTW

In the past VW showed cursor coordinates twice in Status Bar.

One for "World coordinates" and one for "Layer coordinates",

so basically the same but Layer coordinates showed a different Z value.

This was hardly legible but basically great to snap to objects vertices

and get coordinate values on the fly.

In VW 2024 I realized they took coordinate read out away completely.

What a shame.

I totally agree with this. I think it was removed as far back as VW2021 or VW2022... ☹️

AFAIR I complained about that already some time ago ...

I just re-noticed it lately again when checking Status Bar as Bricscad does also some degradations (in other ways)

But currently I can't imagine any workaround about how to check Geometry accuracy

by getting a Vertex Position ?

I do that regularly for my drawing/modeling health. E.g. by setting 6 or 8 digits but

no trailing zeros and keeping an eye on Wall's angles or Object's XY dimensions and

locations in OIP - but that does not really work in 3D or for Generic Solids ....

without doing math in my head .....

I also realized some VW 2024 Working Plane Icons changes but did not care much

about (forgot) it as during that time I did not really had a need for custom Working Planes.
