Gal
Hello, I created a symbol with a front component. However, in my viewport I only see the 3d front. Is there a setting I miss? Gal Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I believe that the component only show in Hidden Line Rendering. In other rendering modes you will get the 3D object render. And this may only work in orthogonal Viewports as well, not one Design Layers. Quote Link to comment
Peter Vandewalle
Isn't it section viewports only? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
@Peter Vandewalle I just did a quick test and it appears to work in any orthogonal viewport rendered in Hidden Line or Dashed Hidden Line. Other render modes (including wireframe) appear to ignore the 2D components. Non-orthogonal viewports appear to ignore the 2D components. But I think you may be right that at one time it was only Section Viewports, but as of 2024 at least this limitation no longer exists. 1 Quote Link to comment
Gal
Thanks Pat, My settings are so. Working on VW2023. Can't make it work... Foreground Render: Hidden Line Orthogonal Projection. I tried to toggle "Display planar objects" on and off but still nothing. Quote Link to comment

There should also be a 'Display 2D Components' setting. And make sure the symbols in question are 100% square to the cut plane. Quote Link to comment
Gal
I guess that "Display 2D Components" is what I'm missing. Can you direct me to where is it in the viewport settings? Quote Link to comment

I've looked more closely at your screenshot. Your background render mode is set to Shaded. As Pat said it needs to be set to Hidden Line if you want to use the 2D Components of symbols. When set to HL you will see the 'Display 2D Components' parameter in the OIP: 1 Quote Link to comment
Gal
Thanks! It works! Now, is there a way I can have a color fill to the walls and windows surface? Quote Link to comment

You can't have fill colours with Hidden Line so it might be a case of stacking two Viewports i.e. keep your existing Shaded VP but turn off the class/layer with the wheely bins on, then create a duplicate of the VP, change render mode to Hidden Line + do the opposite: turn off all the other layers/classes apart from the ones with the wheely bins on. Or add the colour fill manually as Polygons in the Annotations. I think those are the options but may have missed something... 2 Quote Link to comment
