Dick Jenkins
I can't get the Ceiling Height column to return the proper information. I submitted this before and no one could help me so I've been using a "manual" table which is a pain. I thought I would resubmit the schedule again in case someone has new information. If not I'd be willing to pay someone to create a finish schedule with the records attached to the Room Name. I have attached the VW file and a screen shot. Room Finish Test.vwx Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Something very weird in that cell. The ceiling height formula works fine in a different cell. When I deleted the formula from G4 entirely and then recreated the formula it worked fine. No idea what caused the issue originally. Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
I just deleted the formula completely and then entered it back in, it does the same thing as before. What steps did you take? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I selected cell G4 and hit the delete key. I then pasted in the formula that I had created in a different cell that worked. Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
I followed those steps. Selected G4 and hit delete and I created the formula in cell I4 which worked (see first screen shot): I then copied the formula in I4 and pasted it into cell G4 and it immediately gave me the previous results (see the second screen shot): Is there anything else I can try? Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Nykolaishen Posted July 5, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 5, 2024 @Dick Jenkins I have your file that you sent to tech support and I just changed the criteria for G4 using Ceiling Ht. and it updated for me. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Try changing the Cell Format from Text to General in the WS Format menu. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
And are you trying this in the sample file you posted? Or in a different file? Both @Rob Nykolaishen and I were able to delete and replace in your sample file. Maybe something else is going on in your full file? Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
Rob, the file you sent to me worked, but I don't know why because it didn't work for me. Pat, I tried changing the cell format from Text to General and it did nothing. I changed it from text to dimension and it gave me the height in inches. I re-looked at my Record Format to see if I could see anything in there. I changed the field name and tested to see if the new one showed up, Then I tested the Value the same way. When I restored both to the original all of a sudden the schedule seems to work now. I will try it out on my other three projects and let you know if it is still working. Thank you both for all your help. Pat you need to at least take holidays off 😉 1 Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
I am doing everything in the sample file I sent to the both of you. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
That cell definitely has something strange with it. When I first tried to paste into it without deleting it first it did not work. Make sure that you are only clicking one to select cell G4 and then hit the delete key. That will remove everything. If you double click into the cell then it will select the text in the cell and if there is something that is not selected it will not be deleted. Or add a new column and then delete the problem column. Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
So I tried renaming both the Room Finish Schedule worksheet and the Room Finish Record format by appending today's date so I could remember which ones worked (so I could delete all the test ones that did not work). I imported both into another project, made sure the criteria for all the columns matched the new name of the record, and also made sure there werec no duplicates anywhere. I tested it with one room and the problems I was having with G4 were also appearing in F4. It's like it does not like the word "ceiling". I got everything to work when using the schedule and record names used in the test files. Is there a reason this is happening? There are so many things to remember I'd like an easy way to know I am using the items that have been fixed. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I just went back to my original download of your file. For me the key is to change the Format of the row to General instead of Text. Once I do that I can either paste or recreate the formula and it works fine. Another possibility to make sure you don't have a problem with the worksheet would be to create a new worksheet from scratch in a blank file. Then delete the worksheets (or import with replacing) import the new worksheet. That way you know you have a good copy to start from. But I am pretty confident that it is the Format of Text that is your problem. Quote Link to comment
