Editing Assocative Hatch Origion

Question

If possible, it would be great to be able to edit the origion of an associative hatch in the same way we can edit a gradiant and the image fills on 2-D objects.

Thanks

The Tool>Hatch menu allows you to place where the origin of the hatch is applied to the object.

Then you can group the hatch lines set and the object.

I know, but on large polygons that can increase the file size, and it won't update globally if I change the class attributes or edit the hatch definition. I would be a very useful addition for me.

Thanks

It would be great to double-click on an associative hatch and be able to move and nudge the hatch around within the hatched object. No, not great. Absolutely amazing!

Double-clicking on an associative hatch ... been using too much ACAD lately? [Wink]

Double-clicking on a surface (when it's a polyline or polygon) gives you access to the vertices, regardless the surface finishing. So while the idea of modifying the hatch like you describe might indeed be great, double-clicking is not the best way to achieve that.

I do agree with the first post. Give us the option to move and rotate hatches just like we can with gradients and image fills. It will only make VectorWorks more complete and give us a more consistent user interface.

And while we're at it: selection based on the name of a hatch would be nice ...

Cheers,

BaRa

yep all good things, associated hatches would be much improved with user defined origin per object.

Per Layer origins would be a nice thing to, for things like elevational brick and stone hatches.

i have to agree double clicking is not the way to edit the hatch. the edit grad/image fill tool seems the best way to do it.

it would also be nice if hatch line weight/colour and background colour could be defined by class.

that way the same hatch could be used for both presentation and working drawings.

Okay, okay. How about a tool similar to the gradiant tool, but it would a hatch editor, nudger, rotator. An option+click might open the current edit window. I must have nudgability.

I've been using vw11 of late...

and have to say with the new viewports function.

User Origin For Associated Hatchs is more an important improvement than ever before.

Either that or the old "hatches" command needs a lot of work.

Please don't forget this issue.

It is probably the most important improvement that could be made to Vectorworks at this stage.
