Marcus bLD
Hi, I've been playing around with the best way to do this. I've made some sleepers 2.4m long and added a texture. I only need this in 2D. I want them to follow a line to show a new edge for a rural property I am designing. I'm thinking somehow if I can create them as a new fence style with no posts it might be a way to show them? I created a symbol but then when I go into fence tool I finally found it but then they were coming in vertically. I've been trying to copy/rotate them along the line manually but it's just taking too long. File included, is there a simple way to follow the line? Thanks Test file for sleeper edge.vwx Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
You could use Duplicate Along Path or even create a Line Type but I think ultimately you're going to want to place them individually as won't you need shorter lengths on the tight bends + mitred joints...? I don't think the Fence Tool is going to help as that's really a 3D tool with limited control over what you see in 2D. In future there will be this however: Quote Link to comment
Marcus bLD
Thanks Tom, I'll play around, and maybe just cop the extra time it takes over a glass of red! VW Aus were telling me about that new edge object thing, sounds great hey! Cheers Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
The Repetitive Unit Tool (Detailing Tool Set) is another thing you could try but I think in the end the red wine + custom placement is going to be the only way to get what you want Quote Link to comment
bob cleaver
Would you consider using the wall tool for the edging and then be able get lengths for edging takeoffs. The hardscape tool will not provide lengths that are accurate as the wall tool. A future improvement from VW would be welcome. Quote Link to comment
