raindrop78909
I am trying to apply texture to a column is there a way to do it in parts as the texture is applying to the entire column. I want the base and capital width to be one colour and the shaft to be a different colour, is this possible? Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
Yes, you can texture by part. See the help menu. https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2024/eng/VW2024_Guide/Walls_edit/Creating_columns_and_pilasters.htm?rhsearch=Column&rhhlterm=columns column 2 Quote Link to comment
raindrop78909
Are you able to give me a step to step, I just want to change the base and capital but I can only render by 'class or texture' not texture by part. Quote Link to comment
Jesse Cogswell
What we will need to know is which Vectorworks "module" are you using. If you are on Designer or Architect, you will have a lot more options. If you are on Landmark or Spotlight, you will have really only one option. I only have Spotlight, so I will describe what you will need to do to make it work with that module. First, you will need a separate Class for each component with a texture assigned to each. When you have a Column object selected, you should see a button on the Object Info Palette called Classes/Materials. When you press that, a dialog will launch allowing you to set each column component into a different class. In the Render tab of the OIP, you will need to make sure the Texture is set By Class. In this way, you should be able to set different textures to each component. It's not very convenient, certainly not as having a different texture component for each column component, but if you don't have Architect or Designer, this is the only way. If you are using Architect or Designer, the same button in the Object Info Palette should allow you to set the finishes for each component and may let you select textures without having to mess with classes, but I don't know for sure. E|FA
Depending on what you're trying to do, you could also model this with three stacked extrudes each with a different texture, ignoring the Column PIO completely. Edited June 30, 2024 by E|FA typo Quote Link to comment
