stayathomedad
I have a data tag for truss that displays (3) data points - Truss System ID, Truss System Trim Height & Length of Truss Line I can pull the System ID and Trim Height directly from the truss object parameters. I can also get the ID for the Truss Line (1, 2 3 etc) but I can't pull the length of the Truss Line. If I go to the Menu command of "Replace Truss" I can see each truss system. A column for the System ID, a column for the Line ID and the 3rd column is the Current Length. My workflow currently is to add the data tag, open up the Replace Truss window and manually transfer the Length to each data tag. Is there a way to get the data tag to access the length of the Truss Line directly from the truss object? Quote Link to comment
spettitt
I don't think this is possible without scripting - there is no overall 'object' that the system length is stored as a parameter/field of. I think the Replace Truss dialog is probably calculating it when that interface is generated. I may be wrong though. Should be possible with scripting - you would just have a script of 'get system lengths' that would zip through each truss system in the file, calculate the system length and post it back to a field on each truss object. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Scott C. Parker Posted June 11 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 11 There's a workaround that works if you're converting your truss system into hanging positions. Only with straight runs though. Anything on an angle will skew the results. Make two data tags, one for horizontal and one for vertical. Add the Bounding Box attributes to each. It'll measure the outside of the hanging position and report the size. 1 Quote Link to comment
Matthew S
My current workflow for this is to include the length in the position name(e.g. Truss A: 30'). This allows me to place the leader on any stick of truss and pull the relevant position information. 2 Quote Link to comment
