Spotlight Numbering of Racks

After changing the Rack IDs of several racks using Spotlight Numbering (I have a lot of racks that I wanted to rename,) the equipment in the racks don't get the updated rack names. It stays the old rack name. The only way I've found to fix this is to manually rename each rack individually. A niche case, I'm sure, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue.

If you use ConnectCAD > Drawing > Renumber ConnectCAD Objects ... it will work because ConnectCAD knows to tell the equipment that there's been a change.

That's a different sort of tool though - lots of my users deliberately use the Spotlight Numbering tool because they know exactly the logic and order they want the sequence to be in, which may not match one of the simple patterns in Renumber ConnectCAD Objects.

 

The few extra clicks of clicking each object is often worth it to not then have to go and audit the auto-result after and see what it's done and if anything needs to change. IMO both are valid workflows depending on the use.

I'll pass this on to those who maintain Spotlight Numbering. Meanwhile do try out ConnectCAD re-numbering. We put a lot of work into it and personally I think it strikes a good balance between features and ease of use.

Basically all you need to do to get your equipment items to update is to select them all (use magic wand) and then sat toggle Auto-BTU in the object info palette to make them refresh.
