Render Server

Hey,

 

I've been digging into rendering lately, and I am definitely getting the hang of it. I do most of the renderings I do on my laptop, and yesterday i figured i try the same rendering on my home computer that is pretty decent rigged. A 8min render on my laptop took around 4 minutes. The cloud render from the tests I've done is a bit slower than my laptop. This got me thinking. Is it possible to set up a render server locally in our office?

 

So in the list "Storage and Processing" under publish, I could select my local render server:

 

This would make it possible to invest in a high end multiprocessor machine to do all rendering. All users could push to this machine or machines, and they will stack up in a queue.

 

Is this possible and have someone done this and can share some info?

Is vectorworks capable of utilizing 48 cores in a dual processor environment?
