grant_PD
What's going on here? In my model space I get more saturation, reflections, etc. In the viewports I'm getting washed out, no reflections. Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
Does the viewport have the same RW Background as the Design Layer? That's the only other variable I can think of other than the Shaded settings you've already examined. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
same all across the board. I thought it might be the dpi settings (I'm at 600) but changing it does nothing. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted March 8 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 8 @grant_PD This looks like a bug if all the values for background, lighting, shaded options are the same between the design layer and viewport. Can you DM me the file so we can investigate it? I see some of the environment reflections on the walls in the VP. Object reflections are not showing on the floor in the VP. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
@Dave Donley I will send you the file shortly. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted March 8 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 8 Might try lower sheet layer DPI values, maybe it is hitting a limit with resolution. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
dropped the dpi settings down and still no luck. I'm wondering if it's a memory issue. I have a lot of very high resolution textures in the file. Quote Link to comment
bcd
Looks like it's the floor texture that might be the culprit. Maybe try replacing it as a test. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
@grant_PD In case you are wondering what is the max texture image resolution for Shaded: Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
@rDesign definitely helpful. I'm so curious as when I look back at my previous renders there clearly were reflections and such. I'm going to try to rebuild the file and see where the gremlin lurks. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Grant I was messing with your 2024 file and noted a few things... 1) I did a down and dirty viewport of just the flooring on its own layer and it definitely shows the reflections in shaded view of the texture you used. Just a screenshot so low res. 2) Interestingly....I exported your 2024 file back to 2023 and your shaded viewport that wasn't showing reflections on the floor, etc, lo and behold, it DID render as advertised. So...there does seem to be some voodoo in your 2024 file. So....not sure what to think other than it may be a bug in 2024 or ?? You have a lot going on pertaining to classes and layers you may want to revisit regarding some of the glow reflectivity settings and emissive settings. That said, I really doubt that could be causing the shaded viewport issues. Here is a screenshot of the shaded viewport from 2023...clearly you see the reflections, etc. 1 Quote Link to comment
MGuilfoile
I am having the same problem with reflections not working in my VW2023 files... ALL of them. How can this be fixed? MH Brown Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
@MGuilfoile, there is usually a reason 🙂 Probably best to upload the file, or a pared down version of the file, so some of us can have a look. Difficult to resolve these things without seeing the big picture. 1 Quote Link to comment
MGuilfoile
Thanks, Kevin, but I think I've noticed something that is not file related. Evidence suggests that when a texture map has a color (rather than an image) in the Obj. Attribute field AND a greater-than-zero value in the Reflectivity field (Mirror, Glass, Plastic, etc.) replacing the color with an image will disable generation of all reflections. This is coincidental with several files of mine. Texture maps with images and reflections taken from older versions of Vectorworks, work as they should when placed in a file where the identical texture map (the only difference being "the swap") had failed to express reflections. Thanks for your suggestion! MHBrown Quote Link to comment
