LenLindhout
Hi All, I have a problem with calculating some truss systems. All give the error message "The static system could not be calculated". In VW23 on some trusses I get "Virtual FEM support gets load" In VW24 on some trusses I get "The truss system is not properly balanced" 8 Trusses won't calculate, all other trusses and hoist calculate normal. Of those 8 trusses, some only give the note: "The static system could not be calculated" with no other warnings on that truss system. Any one any ideas? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JustinVanHassel Posted January 29, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 29, 2024 In your VW2023 screenshots is that a corner block where the hoist is attached? If so, I don't believe you can have a corner block without the adjacent piece of truss attached but @jcogdell or @Scott C. Parkermay know better. Quote Link to comment

It's a long time limitation that's annoying, to say the least. You need to use a 12" straight truss vs. a corner block. 1 Quote Link to comment
LenLindhout
Thanks guys! Replacing the box corner for a straight piece of truss did the trick! Now it smoothly calculates all 112tons of equipment in a heartbeat 3 Quote Link to comment

ilijahmora
is there a way to to create a center attach point by editing 3d geometry of a corner block? Currently my work around is creating a reverse bridle on the corner block with a hoist as the down leg... (another user suggested this). It would be great if you could just attach a hoist to a corner block directly.. essential for calculating a grid Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Scott C. Parker Posted August 8, 2025 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 8, 2025 Connecting to corner blocks shouldn't be an issue. Please post a sample file so that the collective can take a look. Quote Link to comment
ilijahmora
Hi Scott, I ended up just extending the truss and so the cornerblocks is not where the hoist attaches.. I have been having weird braceworks issues.. where it wont calculate. But if i move the house rigging point and then undo (cmd+z) it all works fine. I have done a VW repair, and am on latest update.. it seems to be mostly fixed now. But it def killed 24 hours in my flow and me slamming my head through som sheet rock lol Quote Link to comment

We always want to see why something is not working when users are building their systems. Please post a sample file so that the collective can take a look. Quote Link to comment
