Yes, it probably will change the opacity of the text. If you just want the Swatch to change then ungroup the object so that the Text and Swatches are now independent of each other and alter the opacity of the swatch geometry.

The drawback is that the Data Vis legend is now broken. To add a new one, right-click inside the annotations portion and select Create Data Visualization Legend.

This has been one of my issues for a while but I have just found a work around.

Instead of fill solid create a till with a fill colour you want with the correct opacity and on the setting have no background fill.

This should then show the same on the viewport and the legend.

This sounds like an interesting workaround, but I'm not sure I understand the process. Could you elaborate or maybe share a file?

Many thanks

No problem.

I make a tile with a simple rectangle with a fill of the colour and opacity that I am wanting

under setting for the tile I set it with no background fill

Then under Data visualization I set the following

This then gives me a result

I have just noticed that with it being a roof it has multiply components which seem to stake the opacity set in the data viz (not ideal)

If it is simple 2D then it works see below.

Hope this helps.

And hope someone can help with the staking of opacity's that accure with roof and slab elements.

I have found that the opposite actually happens with Plant objects: they display with greater transparency than the Opacity prescribed by the Data Vis. I filed a bug about it. Apparently the internal objects cause the Data Vis to be multiplied which results in a reduced opacity but I'd understand it more if the opacity was increased, as per your Roof example. Either way it's something to be aware of.

@Tom W. are you saying that the issue I have with the roof is a bug so could be fixed in a future update?

Not necessarily. All I know is that the Plant issue was being looked into. I think we need some input from @Lada on how Data Vis works with container objects. My bug was VB-208501 + I believe VB-186820 is related. It may be working as designed. In my case I didn't understand 1) why the Data Vis was still 'seeing' the internal objects (+ applying the colouring to them) when the classes for those objects in the VP were turned off + 2) ignoring that + accepting that they were being seen, why the object wasn't then appearing darker (because the Data Vis was being multiplied) as is the case with a Roof + was instead appearing lighter.
