On the PC, delta, in this case, is systemly represented by the +- symbol you see in the layers dialog box.

The mac displays it with the triangle in front of it like in some math lessons and the greek symbol.

Thanks, Katie. OK...yeah I looked in vain for a delta symbol on my PC character map. No luck in a quick search. Nonetheless, delta is widely used in math, science, and engineering too I assume to mean "(incremental)change in value", just the intent in the layer setup dialogue, while +/- (in my experience) universally indicates "tolerance" for dimensions. I'll live with it!
