Janet Rose
The top menu bar disappears when I open Vectorworks 2024 on my MacBook (Sonoma 14.1.2). The Apple, File, Edit, View, etc is gone. If I have another program open I can select that and its menu bar appears and I can force quit VW. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
At some point you clicked the green button at the top left and put VW into full screen mode. Drag your mouse to the top of the screen and the Mac menus and the VW title bar should display. Click the green button again to exit Full Screen mode. HTH 1 Quote Link to comment
Janet Rose
oops. I can't believe I've never done that before. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Almost all Mac apps work that way now. Quote Link to comment
zoomer
But AFAIK there was also another problem with missing VW menus with Sonoma 14.1.x, discussed on the german forum. Which seemed to be fixed with the release of Sonoma 14.2 Quote Link to comment
Dan Akins
I am having similar issues with VWX menus not being visible on start up of the program. My workaround has been to have some type of external monitor connected to my computer before starting VWX24 for the first time in the day. The VWX menus are not visible across the top of my screen when I start up VWX for the first time after a full startup of my MACBook Pro from being OFF. This has been a consistent problem since first installing VWX24 in DEC with update 1. I am running Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1, but the issue was happening with earlier versions of SONOMA as well. I attached two screen shots to show the missing drop-down menus before I add an external monitor and then after the monitor is added, the menus return and work fine. Further, if I remove/disconnect the external monitor, the VWX24 menus stay fully functional. Also, once I get the VWX menus working, if I close out of the VWX program and then open the program back up again, the menus continue to work fine. It seems to be only the first start up of the VWX program after a new startup of my Mac machine that the menus disappear. I am running MacOS 14.2.1 on a 16-inch, 2019 MacBook Pro with Intel UHD graphics 630 (1536MB) and VWX 2024 update 2.1 Quote Link to comment
Dan Akins
adding to my post above-- My work around is to carry an iPad and always connect the iPad to my computer as an added monitor, then start up VWX. Quote Link to comment
Janet Rose
I'm still having this problem also. Quote Link to comment
MeganJ
I just downloaded 2024, I'm also having this issue. (The menu is missing in regular and in fullscreen mode, and weirdly, separately, the normal ways of exiting fullscreen mode don't work for me for VWX - I have to drag the program into a different window to return it to the regular view.) Any way to find the menu bar without an external monitor? Quote Link to comment
MeganJ
Solved it! - turn off "automatic graphics switching" in battery settings. Quote Link to comment
Janet Rose
Where is battery settings? Quote Link to comment
Janet Rose
I found it. Quote Link to comment
Dan Akins
I have also turned off the automatic graphics switching in my Battery settings. This does seem to fix the issue. 1 Quote Link to comment
short
Identical issue with colleagues MacBook Pro (not sure of exact age but is running Sonoma). Suggested he change the display default setting in System Settings and this resolved the problem with VW menu items restored. Quote Link to comment
RonanR
I too started to have this issue very recently... Changing the resolution for the display in System Settings works and VW menus reappeared. I then changed back to what it was and still the menus were there... So this workaround worked for me (for now!). Quote Link to comment
