Camera Match

Hello!

I find this video really helpful when doing a camera match. I'm sure everyone might have seen this at one point who are looking into the subject. This video helped me understand and set up a bunch of camera match cases.

Hello,

I am trying to 3d model something from a photo that is at an angle. Is there anyway to camera match a view? At the moment it does it on the viewport but I dont know how to model from there. Is there anyway I can go into a viewports view settings exactly on the model itself?

I hope it is not confusing what I am trying to ask. It is basically is there anyway to do the same thing that the camera match does in a viewport to just an actual saved view so that I can model in perspective?

Thank you

Alina

Hello @Alina Papp,  There is no good way to do this, unfortunately.

Hello Matt,

Thank you for your answer. In the meantime I found a suggestion of placing a camera in the viewport that then can take me to the view of the viewport so I have tried to model that way. I then saved it as a view. Now I just have to figure out how to be able to add the photo on the design layer, in the work plane of the view,  not as a screen layer. But I feel there must be a way to achieve this.  Will keep searching.

The only other possible (hacky / use at you're own risk) thing you could try is to copy the Camera Match object in the viewport's annotations, paste it in the design layer, click the "Fine Tune View…" button and cancel out of the Fine Tune View dialog (this will restore the view in the design layers to match the viewport).  This is an unsupported workflow and I'm not sure you'll be able to get the photo image in the Camera Match object or the Renderworks Background to line up properly with the model.  Like I said, this is not a supported workflow so no promises this will get you anywhere.

Thank you for your response. I will try it with caution 🙂. I might set up a couple of test files where I actually know the measurements and can test the accuracy. Once that is done will let you know if it worked. Thank you.
