0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Nina Ivanova Posted October 27, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 27, 2023 Is that result from a published DWG file? If yes and if you are opening the file on a different machine, then the reason is, that the font, used inside the Vectorworks document, is not found on the other machine. In this case AutoCAD will substitute the missing font with another font (Simplex by default). Solution is to install the necessary font on the other machine. It is also possible, that Vectorworks document uses a mapped font to present the text and when the document is published, the original font is used by the the text in the created DWG file. In this case it is better to use the option "Preserve mapped font on export" form the Export options dialog. Of course, you might also have a combination from both factors. Quote Link to comment

I have added the font to Vectorworks via fontbook as I am using a Mac and have not had this issue with previous documents Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
Are you publishing locally or via VW Cloud Services. If Cloud Services then you need to make sure the appropriate fonts are uploaded. Check Vectorworks Preferences:Display pane and click the Edit Font Mapping button and make sure that your fonts are not being mapped to something other than what you expect. Also and hopefully Nina can confirm or deny this, but I don't think non-Adobe properly licensed fonts can be subsetted or baked into PDFs any more. Any third party font is of unknown license will be listed in the PDF, but if that font does not exist on the computer the PDF is being displayed on it will be replaced by a different font rather than being able to send the font with the PDF. So it becomes fairly important to use standard fonts that are likely to be available on the recipients computer. Quote Link to comment

0 Pat Stanford
@Ben3B In VW Preferences, check your Font Substitutions. When a font is substituted, the original name is still used when exported, but a different font is used to display inside VW. Delete the substitutions you don't want/need. 1 Quote Link to comment
