3D lines

Question

Is there some fundamental reason why lines can't exist in 3d space? In AutoCAD or 3ds max if you draw a line in plan view that line will stay put in a 3d view.

You can extrude with a value of '0' or use the 3d polygon tool.

In Autocad EACH object you draw is 3d.VW has 2d and 3d objects, sorry, i don't know about the reason.

You can also draw the lines and convert them to 3d polygons. This will group all the lines (if more than one is selected when you convert to 3d polys). You can then ungroup the lines to have individual lines that take on the 3d qualities.

Of course they are no longer lines but 3d polys now.
