Mat Caird
Hi All How to display a roof hatch in top/plan view, with the hatch correctly aligned with the roof plan? Using the roof tool, not the roof face tool. I have the class options set to use at creation, with the fill set as the hatch, and the render texture surface hatch set to the same. If I render the top view in hidden line, the hatch displays correctly as expected, so it's only top/plan view giving me grief. Thanks, Edited September 18, 2023 by Mat Caird clarification Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
I'm not sure if you can do that with a 2D hatch if it is a single roof object. If it is broken into roof faces, you could use the Attribute Mapping Tool to rotate the hatch for each Roof Face. Hatches don't respect the 3D map orientation like textures do. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will weigh in. 2 Quote Link to comment

I'm pretty sure you need to make the Roof Face Unstyled as well in order to edit the mapping. Or at least that's always been my experience. 1 Quote Link to comment

MrPilot
I got the same issue. To my knowledge, this is a missing feature, or rather: a bug — logic would want the same principle as walls would be followed ("hatch rotates in wall"). MrPilot
Also, there ideally should be an option to assign (in the roof object or style) different hatches based on roof rotation — e.g. 0-180: hatch I; 180-360: hatch II, or 0-100 HI, 100-200 HII, 200-360 HIII... any number of assignments over any range, plus a fallback. So as to give the user maximum flexibility. Edited December 11, 2023 by MrPilot 2 Quote Link to comment
Matt Overton
Hopefully, these quirks (I'm being generous) will be addressed as part of Roof/Slab Modernisation that is in development on the roadmap. This may or may not be a direct link to the item... https://www.vectorworks.net/en-AU/public-roadmap?url=roofslab-modernization Quote Link to comment
