Laura Stone
For a perimeter fence like the one you've shown I find the easiest way is to go to sketchup warehouse where someone has modelled all of the Zaun panels, choose the one I want, download, then convert each of the wires into a tiny extruded square (cuts down on drawing time and practically invisible difference). This then becomes a symbol infill for a fence. Quote Link to comment
line-weight
I've just started using the new fence tool. I have a file full of old "railing/fence" objects. Is there any straightforward way to convert them into "new" fence objects, or is that just asking for trouble? Quote Link to comment

Personally I was very happy to see the back of my Railing/Fence symbols! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Katarina Ollikainen Posted May 7, 2025 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 7, 2025 @line-weight, we were discussing forward translations, but the tool is rebuilt from scratch so there was no way to do that economically - we would have spent almost as much time on that as on creating the tool. Sorry. Quote Link to comment

Sorry. I was wondering if it might be possible at least to extract the 2d path of the old object, and use that to as the path of the replacement new one. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Katarina Ollikainen Posted May 7, 2025 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 7, 2025 I think you'll be better off starting from scratch. Unless there is a simple line you can extract from it that you can use for 'create objects from shape' on. Let me know if you have any problems. Quote Link to comment

Trying to create a Mesh Fence, and the option it states I need to select for a Mesh fence, called 'Soft in the Infill Style under the General Tab, DOES NOT EXIST. Wasted over an hour so far trying to create a Mesh Fence, like the attached. Mike I have created something very similar, its a product from "Garda" Safetyfence, this looks very similar and works well for IFC, just make sure to adjust the infill of the mesh to something less dence when working with it.
