FBernardo
Hi everyone! Does anyone have created an ironmongery schedule for doors and windows and can share how you've made them? I was thinking on creating Reports and use them to attach to the doors and then pull this information to the graphical legend, but open to ideas/suggestions. Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
This sounds like something for the impending VW store. As per the "VW Store" thread, a venue for contributing assets that users can pull from will/may be created this fall. 1 Quote Link to comment

I've found a few possible ways of doing this I was more asking for ideas on how other people is doing it, as someone might have got a quicker and easier way of doing, we don't do many of these schedules, and someone that often does it will have a much better perspective/experience. Although if that shop is coming I definitely can imagine people only putting it in there to be purchased, even I can think of a few ways of doing this and who knows if it's profitable or not to do it, but with this I feel that the community will lose one of its best features, the helping hand... Tom W.
@FBernardo are you using Hardware Sets with your Doors? If so there are various hardware-related parameters you can report on. For example, see the 'Door Hardware Legend' reformatted report. As regards Windows, how are you assigning ironmongery to them? Presumably simply as data via the 'Accessories' field or the User Fields? Again, these fields can be returned in reports. It kind of depends exactly what you're doing + what the desired end result is. 1 Quote Link to comment

Fear not my friend, the helping hand will still be part of the store. The store as originally intended is to be free. The Store was not the brainchild of Vectorworks, but of an Apex user, Kevin Keys. He does excellent work. Kevin and I got into an offline discussion about the problems of posting free assets on the forum, as we both do that. The post/thread disappears in minutes unless it is Saturday or Sunday which relegates the free material to followers essentially. He came up with the idea of a repository or "Store" which I agreed was needed as the forum is fleeting when it comes to free assets. So, he posted as planned and I chimed in with ideas and together with some others we kept the thread going, (hard to do) until Vectorworks itself took interest. It came back that the VW Store was going to be implemented. Having said all of the above, the original intent for the store was for anything, but Vectorworks itself may only see this as 2D/3D geometry assets. But, if the store is implemented, it will evolve to a shopping mall. Quote Link to comment

The issue with using the hardware tool in the doors there's the high probability of giving the wrong images/design of the hardware itself, as these are quite limited and if I edit a few of them to look approximate might do the trick. So basically I've tried to do is on the door data and window data I'll use one of the USER FIELDs to write SET X and write a text box or a Schedule with the SETs information that way the manufacturers can relate the information of which door/window uses which set... Hope I made sense on this explanation! Quote Link to comment

Yeah in posts even though is on a single Section of the forum it usually disappears quite quickly, the search function helps but needs people to write the right information on the post/title to help in the search, and a store can organise everything with filters... Hope I made sense on this explanation! You can model your own handles etc from scratch then save as symbols + create new hardware sets from It. They can be whatever you want. I agree ignore the stock VW hardware! 1 Quote Link to comment
