Shortcuts to be assignable to function keys

Stereo

Question

On the mac, you can't assign Shortcuts to the function key's (at the top of the keyboard, F1?F15). It be great if the function keys could perform more important actions than loading an application o.s.s..

Under OS8, I used NowMenues to do so, under OS9 I manipulated the keyboard-layout with resedit, but what can be done under OS X? has anybody an idea?

F1-F4 are reserved for use with tablets (see page 2-56 in the VectorWorks 9 User's Guide), but F5-F15 can be assigned as shortcuts for tools. The F-keys are not available as shortcuts for menu items in VectorWorks 9, but we're always looking to expand the available shortcuts for both menus and tools, so perhaps this will change in a future version. Note VectorWorks 9.0.1 supports additional modifiers, greatly expanding the number of available shortcuts.
