Yes but in the name of efficiency, please. We can do it with the Grid line tool so why not with the Elevation Benchmark tool, seems like a functionality oversight.

I agree that there should be options for labels at both ends.  When I duplicate and/or mirror the benchmark, the leader line remains on the left side of the text.  I must manually add a leaderline, which is time consuming.  Perhaps I am missing an option somewhere?  I tried making a left and right sided benchmark but couldn't get the text to align properly and the leader line still is on the left side.
