Popular Post Jeff Prince Posted May 20, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted May 20, 2023 Even though the latest rendering engines have more shaders and PBR workflows that yield richer results... the built in Renderworks engine can still do some neat things. Do you have any super tricky textures you have made? Here's one I was playing with a few weeks ago... It uses images for all four shaders to create an interesting effect when exposed to direct light compared to shadow. Note the extensive use of bump and self shadowing to simulate geometry to convert a simple plane to a quilted and wrinkled surface. This isn't something new, the tech has been around forever and just comes at a steep cost in terms of processing time. compare the texture's pattern in the indirectly lit area above compared to the fully lit non-directional light below. 5 Quote Link to comment
