line-weight
Well, I tried the same method but with rectangles (converted to nurbs curves) instead of the rounded rectangles. But I'm not offered the "select alignment by percentage" option. Why is this? It seems like it's because it has corners. It has to be a "geometrically continuous cross section". And that would appear to rule out the possibility of creating anything with true edges. Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
I am going to explain this process in a short tutorial on "Single point matched curves" that explains why my curves work. Although by now, I am sure some have forensically figured it out as I posted the curves. But, the fact that you and others are exploring NURBS, etc. is a good thing. I will offer you some advice which others are also aware of. Build your own curves. "Convert to NURBS" without understanding what that function does is the cause of many problems. 1 Quote Link to comment
joestewart4669
Hi all, stumbled across this looking how to model a mobius strip. I’ve come across this which is interesting http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/MoebiusStripAsAHalfTwistedSquareTorus/ Also I’ve attempted to create a mobius using the subdivision primitive. Anyone else had any luck with that. ? Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
Hi Joe, Happy Easter. This topic is very controversial. Vectorworks does not create a Mobius curve naturally. I think I created one, but not everyone agrees and I really don't know....or care. Do you actually need one or just having some fun? The trick is to make Loft Nurbs think it is looking at a normal series of NUBRS curves. Below. Is this actually a Mobius curve, unclear, but there are no breaks in this NURBS surface. See below. I had some success with the subd tool there: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104317-modelling-challenge-möbius-strip-model-this-as-a-seamless-solid-with-no-visible-joins/ 1 Quote Link to comment
