Dimension value display in Info palette

PeterT

Question

It would be extremely useful to have the value of a dimension display in the info palette when the dimension is selected on the drawing.

Sometimes when zoomed way in on a drawing, I may only see the dimension line and the dimension itself may be off screen, but I still would like to select the dimension to verify it without zooming back out.

Also, dimensions may be overwritten in the info palette by unchecking the "show dimension value" checkbox, and entering a new value in the leader or trailer field. But once you have done this, there is no way to visually check what the "true" dimension value is that has been overwritten.

The main purpose of the info palette is to display useful infomation about selected objects. What info could be more useful about a dimension than its true value?

Thank you for your suggestion. We here at Nemetschek North America are always attentive to customer suggestions. Over the years the bulk of all improvements to the MiniCad and VectorWorks programs have come from customer requests.

This will be entered into our wish list and evaluated by our design team as a potential enhancement for the future.

Again, we thank you for your input and continued patronage.

I wish the x, y, delta x, delta y input fields were visible in the object info palette, when editing dimensions.

Sometimes I draw dimensions prior to everything else in the drawing. (a kind

of special grid) Sometimes I notice that something is drawn incorrectly when

dimensioning it. We could change the dimension and then snap the object to

the leader line.

Example palette: (I hope this works)
