VW23 - Cannot Select Dimensions using Custom Selection Tool While Editing a Symbol

Good Morning:

 

We're  trying to update/redo some standard detail Symbols which are sorely  in need of updating.   I can't select dimensions using the Custom Selection tool while editing the 2D components of the symbol.  I want to change the dimension style by selecting all of the dimensions using Custom Selection.  Dimensions do not appear in the Type list.  Is this normal behavior?  These are 2D Symbols.

Check and make sure that they are actually dimensions in the symbols and that someone didn't ungroup them to lines and text.  I was able to use custom selection here for Dims.

As you can see, I have (3) dimensions selected, so they haven't been ungrouped, yet that object type does not appear in the list... Odd...

This only happens when I'm inside a symbol. 

 

 

The object type shows up when I'm outside the symbol.

I am not seeing that.  Here is my objects converted to a symbol and I am editing the symbol.

 

What version of VW are you running? Including Service Pack.

I'm running VW23 SP4.

Apparently, if there are no dimensions anywhere in the file (design layers or sheet layers), the criteria doesn't appear.  However, if I add a dimension to a sheet layer or design layer, the criteria appears, and I'm able to select the dimensions... See the attached video.

 

 

 

This drawing has been brought forward from a previous version.  Maybe that's the issue...
