Constant crashes on New MacBook Pro M2 Max

tvlighter

Question

Using a new MacBook Pro M2 Max w/64 GB Memory using the latest version of VW 2023 and macOS 13.3, I have repeated crashes (more that 10) when I simply touch the mouse pad.

When restarting VW there is no record of working in the program unless I had either saved it or the Auto backup saved the file.

The project are simple 2D not 3D elements in use.

Anyone had similar issues?

(?)

I do not use any mouse pad ...

(Mouse on desk surface (Linoleum here) or currently I try all kind of

old original Track Pad, old original Magic Mouse or currently Wacom

Pen Input on old Cyntic 27" (Touch OFF)

(Latest VW SP, latest macOS Ventura Public Beta (13.4) currently)

But I do not see many crashes in VW.

I do mostly 3D Imports/Modeling and BIM only. OK a few SLVPs

are generated.

Note:

When restarting from the crash there is not a "Open Recent" reference to the worked on and previously saved file.

It seems that the only way the file shows up in "Open Recent" is to close the file and re-open.

I unfortunately did not correctly reference the "Pad"  it is the touch pad on the laptop not the mouse pad.

Sorry, I got that totally wrong.

Now that I do,

VW crashing just for touching the touchpad sounds frightening !

And I saw you have a great M2 Max MBP ...

From time to time I read that M2 users sometimes have issues

that M1 users do not necessarily have.

I think Apple did some hardware changes for M2s that also

influence latest macOS and Software.

E.g. in other 3D Apps, newest Apple ARM optimizations and speed

improvements are only available on M2 hardware, no more on M1.

Maybe some of these cause issues in VW or even macOS.

Good that you reported !
