Is it possible to use the "Custom Linked Text" feature seen in Title Blocks in different places?

Hi,

 

I'm trying to create a symbol that contains text from multiple record fields on a single line. Would it be possible to use this feature, that's used by the title block, in different places?

That would be nice, currently not possible with the Link Text to Record command. A data tag would do it though.

Would it be possible to create a plugin using Python or the SDK that creates a text object that has this functionality? Don't know if it's possible to create something that dynamically updates.

"Dynamic Text" is not available through any of the scripting languages. I am not certain if it is accessible from the SDK or not.

 

You could certainly write a script that would grab the pieces of information you want and store them in a Field that could be used with Link Text to Record, but you would have to run the script any time any of the data changed.

 

You may be able to accomplish this by using the Data Manager and using that to combine the data into a single field that could then be used with Link Text to Record.
