3D and ELEVATIONS

I am trying to 'properly' set up my plans, elevations and perspectives in Vectorworks 11 with sheet layers and viewports from the plans.

It is not as simple as I thought because it is taking a long time and still the elevations are not very good. I try using the rendering commands and fenestration patterns disappear or all the walls are seen or shadow appears. Should the walls be on layer which is blocked? Do I have to fiddle with the light commands? Which rendering command is best to use?

Or is VW 11 not really very good at this and I should stick to drawing the elevations seperatly or spend more money and upgrade to VW Architect and Render Works?

MJW, There are many ways to do this. IMO, Architect w/RW might help a bit. But if you're like me and want your 2d graphics "just so" you will probably get better results from "drawn" elevations. P

Thanks for that but it is such a pity that VW has all hese facilities and it just does not quiet work!

VW's is getting closer all the time. Many people use the 3d models, rendered as shaded poly's (or final shaded poly's) and then create viewports of each elevation. Then ?ou can do "touch up" using the viewport annotation. P

I ahve been trying that and, besides it being time consuming learning the process,there a few problems:

1. Fenestraion pattern disappears.

2. Shade appears on the elevation.
