Popular Post Kevin K
Just a few observations relating to Rendering. I was tasked with creating this 3d metal orb structure which included a lot of small colored node lighting objects. The Takeaway: (1 )I was fairly amazed that by configuring each individual colored light strand (6 colors) to use the 'Glow' option for light emitting reflectivity set to 500% brightness, that without using an actual light object, it really lit the scene !! (2) I used an HDRI hemispheric background, and the cool part was that I could set the brightness of the HDRI way down to about 10% which gave the sene of natural lighting at dusk. Nice to have that option pertaining to HDRI backgrounds 🙂 11 Quote Link to comment

Kevin K
mjm yeah, indeed, love those glows!! 🙂 The ability to lower the brightness on the HDRI’s was an option I (stupidly!) never noticed. It can come in handy. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
@Kevin K thanks as ever for sharing be interested to see how the people look when the Glow Reflectivity is turned off...? Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Tom I did elect to use the constant reflectivity (glow) option for the people image prop. Normally I would never do that, but for this rendering coupled with all the glowing lights….I used it. Sort of suits the scene in this instance. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Oh, and for the record….the lights going down the nurbs strands @4” o.c….there are 11,000 of them! I am sort of amazed it didn’t make my iMac Pro explode when I rendered it using custom RW!! 🙂 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Kevin K
mjm I will get right on that! Just got back from hangin out with my stingray girlfriend in the lagoon….so quick shower then I will upload what you requested. I assume you meant just removing the glow from the people, correct? NOT the little lights? 1 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Kevin K
mjm Ok....As requested.....here is a version without the glow option on the people...I think I may actually prefer this one...what you think? Just for grins, I also attached another project I did for the same Client. This Client that asked me to 3d model his Orb, does some pretty friggin, compelling, amazing stuff. Check out his site if you wish...pmmg.com 5 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
btw, the function of even having image prop people in that scene is to show scale, relating to the Orb structure. I know you get that 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee Luis M Ruiz Posted February 1, 2023 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 1, 2023 @Kevin K I took the liberty to test your rendering with a bit of post production. Just an idea. 2 Quote Link to comment
