arlingtondiver
Wondering. Is there a font that resembles hand lettering? Familiar with Comic sans but it doesn't look very genuine. Thanks in advance. Marshall Quote Link to comment
unearthed
There are quite a few (hundreds at least), depends what you're doing though, many 'hand righting' font sets only have the core characters ie a-z A-Z 0-9 and . , ; : ' " ( ) ! ? / * = - + - For the basic Architects Daughter is nice I have installed one called Angelina https://www.free-fonts.com/hand-shx - these are hand written style Autocad .shx (shape font) but they download as .ttf Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
I’ve never understood the desire to use “hand lettering” when making computer drawings, even for illustrative work. 2 Quote Link to comment
E|FA
Tekton (based on Frank Ching's lettering) was pretty standard for a while. https://fonts.adobe.com/fonts/tekton Edited January 21, 2023 by E|FA 1 Quote Link to comment
domer1322
also try my favorite, "Graphite" from the same Adobe website. It mimics the way some old Architects (like me) were taught to letter .... constantly rotating the pencil lead to get the right shape/stroke ... back when pencils and paper were used. 2 Quote Link to comment
Matt Overton
There are fontmaker apps for touch screen devices like the iPad that let you make and tweak a font based on your own lettering style. Can be quiet fan but a lot of effort to make it just so and scale well. So might not be worth it unless you have a lot of distinctive letters compared to the quality hand fonts like tekton. arlingtondiver
Thanks everyone for their responses. I downloaded Architects Daughter but it doesn't show up as a selectable font in Vectorworks. Do I have to move the file to a special place for Vectorworks to see and use it? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
What Operating System? If you are on a Mac, then you should use Font Book (in your Applications folder) to install the Font so it can be used. You may have to restart VW after installing the font to have it recognized.
