Label Legend Not Behaving as Expected

SharpToShutter

Question

I'm a new Vectorworks user coming fresh out of training at LDI. I've been working on creating a light plot, and my Label Legends are not behaving as they did when we learned about then in the class. For reference, I am using a VW 2022 Educational license, running on MacOS.

The problem I am having is that the layout I create on the Label Legend editor is not being carried over to my plot. I get everything arranged nicely and how I want it on the editor, but then when I apply that Label Legend to a fixture on the plot, all of my containers and labels are scattered in positions that are not even close to what I had set up in the editor. I have attached photos to show what is happening. What am I doing wrong here and why is this happening?

Thanks!

It’s worth saying that the placement of the containers in the Label Legend symbol is only a guide to help with text spacing. The insertion points of container symbols are always aligned the insertion point of the text block in the final Label legend when it is assigned to a lighting device.

The internal geometry of the 2D symbols for the container shapes (circle, triangle, hexagon) somehow got moved off the origin point.  You have to edit the individual 2D geometries to correct it (the symbols are in the resource manager in the "containers" folder).

edit: what markdd said 🙂

THANK YOU! Before this problem appeared, I did go into the symbol editor to make those containers bigger in size, and I must have inadvertently moved them off of that origin point in doing so. Everything is looking great now. I appreciate your quick help! Have a great weekend, everyone! 😃
