would somebody tell me once and for all what the deal is with the apollo/gobo/etc textures in spotlight? the main problem is that i don't know much about spotlight, and when i try to mess around with the apollo things, it just comes out wierd.

I know this may be oversimplifing. But a gobo is a small, thin, circular piece of aluminum with a pattern stamped in it. The gobo is then inserted in a theatrical lighting instrument and the pattern is then projected onto the stage. Common uses of gobos are leaf/tree patterns, clouds, windows, ie.

They are quite useful and effective for theatrical design!
