VW2023 - Textures with Hatch and Hatch doesn't follow the Texture

Hi all,

Would it be possible for any Masters in VW to help me with this, please?

I have a brick texture to which I have also attached a hatch line to work on hidden line, In walls is working fine but when I apply this texture to a column it turns the Hatch vertically but the texture is horizontal as it should.

Is there a way to turn the hatch to the correct position without creating a new texture to edit the hatch alone?

See attached pictures for reference,

Hmmh, as it is with Texture Control in general in VW,

for any Materials, noticeably linear oriented, like Wood,

I usually have 2 of them, a regular and a 90° version.

Usually to orient it vertically or horizontally - on purpose,

but when working with Generic Solids or Extrudes,

also just for aligning them in the same direction ...

But in thread starter's case, where even Texture vs Hatch direction

switches for any reason, even Material duplicates may not help ....

OK, one case it may be a Stylized Wall, while the problematic Object

may be a Column. That may help to separate Texture issues a bit.

Maybe playing with all kind of VW's delivered mapping options on

Object Level may bring Textures and Hatch direction back in line.

If possible, but both then are rotated, the 90° Material duplicate

could help.

Beside your advice .....

I like that Font !

What is it ?

Don't say it is Comic Sans ... or the same Google Font from your last

building example - but AFAIK that looked much different.

Does it always write in upper case ?

Would it offer a bit larger Initials in case you really want upper case ?

"What is that Font?"......uh....I could tell ya...but I would have ta kill ya" 🙂

No...it isn't Comic Sans. 🙂

It writes upper and lowercase...called "Graphite"...It is one of my favorites...It is a font type of OTF, so not sure if that will work for you.

Can't recall if you are a Mac guy or PC guy....but this should work...need to install the fonts into your system.  I leave that to you. I also added a font called 'ARCHITXT.TTF which was usually my go to font.

Do let me know if it works...for them to show up in a VW file, you will need to quit VW, then boot it again and the Graphic suite of fonts show be available.

Check out the screenshot.

I also included a 2022 version of a file that explains your dilemma 🙂

I am pretty sure it will be the same in 2023.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the help, when I was doing the column even though it had the architectural selected it was just working as a structural, but I changed it to what you said and what happened was the texture in shaded then changed to vertical and the hidden line changed to the correct position... Extremely weird... so I just extruded and made an auto hybrid and that is solved! I need to look further into this and see if I can find a bug I can report it to vw.

I was getting far from consistent behaviour too. Definitely seemed buggy
