Version 2023 NOT running on a MacPro under OS BigSur 11.7.1

Hello, Version 2022 running fine on a MacPro 5.1 BigSur 11.7.1.

V2023 installs perfectly, the program also starts up, but just before the workspace should appear the software crashes.

With V2023 viewer, there is no problem and nothing wrong.

Indeed I work on MacPro 5.1, but it has been modernized by Mac specialists in the Netherlands to current standard standards to run BigSur. Amazing isn't it?

Unfortunately, although the minimum requirements are BigSur, the hardware meets the requirements as indicated on Nemetscheck's website, things go awry.

I am also aware that VW2024 will not work under BigSur and I will then have to make an investment in hardware amounting to +/- 7000€.

What you say is true for CINEMA4D, but nowhere is it written in the hardware specifications that AVX is necessary for VW.

Then how do you explain that I can boot and use the viewer version ? I agree it is a stripped down version, but still.

It would be very harshly unsympathetic to exclude this type of Mac.

Since this is a Mac Pro 5,1 like Hanbo, renaming Cineware folder is the workaround here as well @AWDC LAO

We will work to detect the absence of AVX and avoid the crash.  All Renderworks functions, textures, etc will be off.

Was not expecting AVX to be a factor so I did not include it in the system requirements for 2023.  These computers are older than what we have available to test in-house.

Dear, will there ever be an SP version for the MacPro's 5.1 that do not support AVX.  My MacPro 5.1 works perfectly with version 2022 under BigSur. Too bad there was no announcement from the software developer, that AVX support is absolutely necessary. The problem is in the CineWare folder which is structured differently. The integration of RenderWorks and Redshift runs differently in VW2023 ! I know that the close cooperation between CPU and GPU is important for fast rendering and so it will be a necessity in the long run.
It would please many if there is a subversion of VW2023 that runs for one more year on older computers. That way we are able to look forward to a new Mac. Today, most new MacPro's or Mac Studio are hard to come by with the effects of the conflict in Ukraine.

Is it possible to verify or have a list of which Mac Desktops and MacBook Pros are compatible with VW 2023 without having to investigate the processor capabilities.  The VW site seems to list M1 Apple processor a lot, but a lot of people are not able to afford the most current Macs, naturally.  Thank You.

I discovered the same crashing problem on my MacPro 5,1 running on Martin Lo's version of Open Core with Big Sur.  Changing the name of the Cineware folder, did finally allow VW 2023 SP2 to open, however, textures wouldn't render at all.  Updating to SP3, a new Cineware file was created and I was able to open VW 2023, however still had texture rendering issues:(

(VW 2022 works fine.)
