David Seibert
Is is possible for OpenGL to display any sort of lighting or shadows? I've worked with a colleague using AccuRender for AutoCad and the lighting and shadows while in OpenGL are great, and a real time saver. I'd love an AccuRender or approved equal rendering module for Vectorworks. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Basic shadow casting should be part of OpenGL in my opinion. It seems to me that the implementation of OpenGL by Apple on the Mac platform is inferior to that on PC's. On a Mac even the OpenGL shading is pretty poor. I wonder whether this is the issue - that the need to develop for both platforms means that the lowest common denominator of any feature determines the standard of what is provided. In this case the OpenGL rendering capability standard is being determined by what the Mac platform can achieve, and therefore we all miss out. Quote Link to comment
