Adding units from Light Wright to Spot Light

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to practice importing and exporting between SL and Light Wright. My "Plot" consists of 6 units on two hanging positions. I have been able to successfully import and export between SL and LW. I have not been able to though add a unit in LW, then have it show up on the SL plot. Am I missing something in the manual?

Pat,

If you have added an instrument in LightWright it should import an "orphan." After doing the import, try zooming out and see if you have orphans and the right hand bottom of the page. They will be plain squares which you will then assign a symbol to.

Once I assign a symbol to it will it move to the correct position? ie hanging position? I realize that it won't be *exactly* where I want it. (say I have a new unit #5...will it go somewhere between units #4 and #6?)

Once I assign a symbol to the orphan, will it still have all of the attributes I added to it in Light wright?

Thanks,

Pat

Unfortunatley, SpotLight is not yet clairvoyant smile.gif so it can't know where your positions are, so you will have to move it to the actual position. However, it will retain all the information you assigned it in LW, the only thing that will change is the symbol.

Kacey, I have a question based on your earlier statement:

"Unfortunatley, SpotLight is not yet clairvoyant so it can't know where your positions are ..."

Doesn't SPOTLIGHT know where the hanging positions are since the positions are objects and have XYZ coordinates?

AutoPlotVW has been doing this for a long time (puts unit #2a precicely between #2 and #3 and flags the new unit that requires attention). Unfortunately the user must decide whether to use SPOTLIGHT or AutoPlotVW when beginning a project as the two are not compatible with each other.

Maybe we can add this to the wish list?

Thanks,
