LarryAZ
I have a file that will crash 100% of the time with the command to render with Artistic Renderworks. I have it set to cartoon but it crashes with any choice. This is ver 11 with OSX 10.3.4 on an iMac G4 with 512k ram. Who should I send it to? Larry Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Larry, Please don't send it to me! Sorry, I just can't pass up a wise-crack. I bet if you call the tech support number they will be very interested... Peter Cipes Quote Link to comment
Guest
Do you have a nurbs surface in the drawing? Quote Link to comment
LordSobe
I encounter this same problem. All the walls are straight, and it's a rather small building. I get this error every single time I try to run Artistic Renderworks. I am running Vectorworks 11 on a PC 1.66 GHz and 256 MB RAM Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
No nurbs surfaces that I know of unless walls have them. All the walls are straight. Larry Quote Link to comment
YK
I have been playing around with the artistic renderworks and the program had crash a couples of times. And I have 1GB of RAM Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 22, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 22, 2004 Hello: Are there any plug-in windows and/or doors in the walls? What happens if you convert the walls with these into NURBS? Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Not sure why Katie hasn't responded to this tread. I got this email from her earlier. ____________________________________________________________ Larry, The problem will be fixed with an upcoming maintenance release. We aplogize for the inconvenience this may cause. Respectfully, Katie Roberts Tech Support Specialist Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted June 23, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 23, 2004 Hello LarryAZ: The three transom-like windows in the one wall are defined strangely. From the front view they look like nested rectangles that are offset vertically. The inner rectangle is below the outer trim for the window, so that the glass of the window would be below the trim. There is a bug where Artistic RW will crash in siturations like this one. The only cases I know of are with plugin windows that are defined strangely like this one. I tried converting this plugin window to 3D polygons and rendering, but ArtRW reported an out of memory error and didn't render anything (it didn't really run out of memory). I could track it down to the particular polygon, but since this plugin appears to have strange dimensions, it may be easier to fix it by correcting the plugin window parameters. If the values you have for these are what you want, please let me know and we'll see if it is a plugin bug. Thanks for the info, Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Dave, All I did was select the transom button with the default values. I'm just learning and haven't customized anything except the size of the door and the swing. Larry Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Dave, I just spent more time on this house and realized you were talking about the clearstory windows. I wasn't thinking of them because they are not supposed to have a transom. I just unselected the transom on all three and now it renders perfectly. I guess the bug IS in the plug-in as you suspected. Should be some kind of error checking to see if their is room for a transom. Thanks for your help figuring it out. Larry Quote Link to comment
LarryAZ
Dave, I put together another drawing with lots of parametric windows and doors. It also crashes with any artistic rendering command. I can't find any that look bad and non have the transom selected. Larry Quote Link to comment
