Short Answer: It is due to antiquated methods employed by firms slow to modernize their AutoCAD practices.   The max lineweight in AutoCAD is 2.11mm.  To illustrate a larger lineweight, plines with widths would be used to lay down a heavier line.   Vectorworks’s max lineweight is 6.48mm.  When importing an AutoCAD drawing with a pline width, Vectorworks converts this to a lineweight based on your units and scale settings.  If that pline would end up larger than 6.48mm, V
