Question for folks with AutoCad experience.
I often get site plans as dwgs with the following characteristics:
1. Some line weights are huge. 255 mils. And because of that some markers are also huge.
2. Parts of the site survey are a scaled symbol. Just got one where the property line, setbacks, easements, etc were a symbol scaled by a factor of 12. Often there are symbols for things like existing trees that are the same symbol over and over just scaled differe
Short Answer:
It is due to antiquated methods employed by firms slow to modernize their AutoCAD practices.
The max lineweight in AutoCAD is 2.11mm. To illustrate a larger lineweight, plines with widths would be used to lay down a heavier line.
Vectorworks’s max lineweight is 6.48mm. When importing an AutoCAD drawing with a pline width, Vectorworks converts this to a lineweight based on your units and scale settings. If that pline would end up larger than 6.48mm, V
