Another inconsistency in how "styles" work - in the case of text styles, you're not given an "by instance / by style" option for attributes.
Realising this I think reveals why I've always considered text style behaviour to be erratic - if you select a text object that has a text style applied to it, and change any of the alignment settings, it converts to "unstyled" (with no warning). So that'll be why I'm always finding text objects that don't update when I adjust text styles.
It seems to me that it will be a very common use case scenario that you'll want (for example) a text style applied to text that is in some cases right-aligned and some cases left-aligned.
When I edit a text style I should be able to select certain attributes, such as alignment, to be "by instance" so that I can change it on individual text objects without losing all the other text style information.
