Extrude along path will not texture

Recommended Posts

help?

I have a simple circle extruded along a path: (part of) an ellipse.

I cannot get it to "accept" a texture.

The same is true of Dome nuts from the Mechanical "Nuts and Bolts DIN" pallette.

I'm using these things as parts of symbols, and applying textures to them as individual pieces inside the Edit Symbol pane as instructed in the Manual, but even removed from the Symbol and placed as individual objects on another layer they will not texture.

I have a submission on Friday {:-0

What can I do to get rid of the default matte surface and get it to look "metalic"???

Nuts and Bolts from the DIN palette are 2d objects. You cannot apply textures to 2d objects.

As for the extrude along path, have you verified it has a solid fill?

If you have, please send the file to me along wiht a note about the problem.

What object are you referring to about the matte default and wanting it to be metallic?

In Mechanical/Nuts and Bolts_Metric under the 2d Dome Nut is a 3d version.

I could not fill the finished Extrude with the Attributes pallette; it stayed as a wireframe. I filled the original profile and the resulting extrude has the colour of the profile.

The same process doesn't work with texturing.

All objects with a plain colour fill render out to a matte surface. (perhaps lo-sheen satin might be more accurate?)

I want both these things to look like Stainless Steel.

Polished Aluminium Alloy would be a bonus ;-)
