jorzcak
Hi. Never used this program before, have two basic questions: 1). Do I need an additional autoCad program if I purchase the Vectorworks Spotlight program? or is it its own self-contained system? 2). Does anyone have any suggestions for where I should search for a good printer for printing off my plots, magic sheets...etc...? Thank you! Quote Link to comment

SpotLight is build on top of VectorWorks which is a fully featured 2d/3d CAD program. So, you get all the features and functionality of the CAD program (in fact you could draw all of your plots with it alone) along with the additional features of SpotLight. These features are specific to lighting design and gives you some intelligence and additional functionality. quote: [b} 2). If you have a couple thousand dollars you could buy a plotter. Here at Nemetschek we have about 6 different plotters. You can also use a regular printer. VectorWorks will work with anything. At home I use the HP1220CSE which will print up to A size paper. It was around $500. I'd take a look at some of the other topics and message boards where there may already be some info posted on printers and plotters.
