  1. I've just recently found the view/tool: View > Multiple view panes > Create Floating View Pane Justifiably wary of trying new things in VW (as many are counterintuitive, or not fit for purpose) but are there any bugs with this tool? Is editing and saves normal? Any other oddments anyone has found? windows64 Win10 VW2018 SP6
  2. While editing a 3D symbol we often move the view around the object or change the render mode. But when you exit the edit mode the view orientation and render mode reverts back to what is was before the edit mode was opened. This a bit frustrating because you have to move the view again to what it was while in edit mode. Disrupting the workflow.. a lot. In all the programs we use (Revit/SketchUp etc.) when you exit a 'component'/'model group' the view stays at the same place. It would really help if VW adds the option to keep the view orientation and render mode after exiting the symbol edit mode. Like how it works right now when editing a group in VW. Illustration how it works right now:
  3. I have 2 requests for the render and view mode in the preview pane of the resource browser: Please allow us to change the view and render mode when the file in the library isn't opened/activated. When not active, these 2 functions are grayed out: These buttons are enabled when the file is opened and i's the active file: Is it possible to enable them when the file isn't opened? Let the system remember the chosen render and view mode when the selection changes: The third symbol is selected and I've changed the view mode to right iso: When I select another symbol, the view mode is the default again: Wouldn't it be better if it remembered the last view & render mode? This would mean that you have one preference for all you symbols. Or is the vision of VW that every symbol has his own view preference? If this is the case, could you allow us to change the view & render mode of multiple symbols at once? Not possible atm, the symbols are grayed out again when we have multiple symbols selected: Thank you! Bert
  4. Here's a weird one... Out of nowhere (which usually means I hit an errant shortcut key without knowing it, toggling some obscure option)... When changing to a standard 3D view like Front or Right Isometric, all of my geometry disappears... and one or both of the ruler bars go yellow! Nothing is deleted, but everything disappears. Selecting Top/Plan or Top brings it back, but using the Flyover tool makes everything disappear again. Exiting and restarting the program does not fix this. And of course, the problem comes and goes. I thought it had fixed itself for a moment, then it re-appeared. I was able to cycle through several views in 3D for a moment, then this started happening again. The ruler bar doesn't always go yellow, but sometimes the numbers just disappear. Any ideas as to how this happens? Screenshot of yellow ruler bar attached. Thanks for any help, peace aj
  5. Why do all design layers change to the same view whether top/plan view or front view? If I want both design layers on, but one in top/plan view and the other in front view, how does that work? This just started happening today, so not sure if there's an update that needs to be downloaded. Ok I figured it out. I clicked on "unified view" in the tool bar at the top. All better now! Haha!
  6. When I'm working in 3D and I double-click into an extrude (or any other object*) I don't want the view to change. I want the object and view to stay right where it is. If I want a view change, then I can change it myself. * Like Edit Mode of DTMs, especially for undos
  7. Hi All, These polygons seem to have a insertion handle that I can't seem to delete or stop from viewing. The appear part of the polygon but if I double click they are not lines. Any ideas how to get rid of the handles to clean up my site plans. JT
  8. Hi, Is there a way to only view and edit a selection of objects without having to use groups, classes, etc? Objects across layers and with different classes often makes it difficult to edit them.
  9. Hi everyone, When i pick the standard view options such as front view, right or even the isometric view options, somehow i get always a perspective effect. I mean i cannot get a real flat front view. its like i look at my object with a wide angle camera or my walls are not straight for the isometric views due to the perspective. Even though i looked around the menus, unfortunately i couldn't be able to find a solution on this matter. Thanks in advance
  10. Hey, I am setting up quite a few working drawings in sheets. I have all of my comments I need already drawn up in 3D. When I go to change the view in the viewport from plan to left, right etc - the object I am trying to capture disappears off into the distance somewhere meaning I have to edit the crop on my viewport. Sometimes its moved so far I can't even see it. This is time consuming & frustrating - anyone have any ideas as to how I speed this work flow up? Thanks all Liz
  11. Hi there, I appreciate the range of 3D projections available in Vectorworks, quite unique! My problem at the moment is that there's only one default Oblique Cavalier 30 and 45 degree mode which distort the model down and to the left (-x,-y) revealing the right and top (x, y) elevations. I was wondering if there are any settings available for these projections allowing me to choose the direction of distortion so that I can see the -y and x elevations for instance. Attached image showing the default cavalier mode.
