  1. Hi all, Do you know where (and if it exists) the standard location of the file that has the standard names on the Drawing stamp (title block) so we can add/change the existing ones to the ones we use more often, instead of using the Custom all the time? The one I've pointed out in this screenshot
  2. Hi, Having created a position the forum asking how to change the default text options in the Drawing stamp, I've been told that these are set in the code of VW and not in a changeable file. I came then to suggest this change, if possible to be something like the Space tool has with the generic names used that come from a simple .TXT file in the library folder. the forum post is this one:
  3. I've been putting together a new title sheet border style which can be adapted to fit A0, A1 and A2 (both orientations) however the North point location doesn't reposition itself in relation to the other items, including loci of the title block. I've attached 2 screen grabs showing what happens to the North Arrow when the page size changes from A1 Landscape to A1 Portrait. Any wisdom is always appreciated!
  4. Hello! I am quite new to VW. I am an architect and I am trying to tune my custom titleblock. Usually my sheet numbers are numbered (1,2,3,4 of 14 lets say) but my drawing numbers have a prefix (A-01, A-02, indicating that it is an architectural drawing instead of Mech, etc). At the moment I have to click on each sheets 'sheet data' and manually change the drawing number. Is there a way to avoid that? A way that VW automatically generates the order unless I manually edit a sheet? At the moment, if I add a drawing between others, the stacking order might automatically change, but I'll have to go through each drawing number.. Also, is there a way to batch edit prefixes in sheet numbers? Best, Demetris P.S. Its my first time posting here, not sure if this the right space to post questions to the community. Let me know if I should create a post elsewhere!
  5. I'm creating a titleblock. I'd like to have the ability to control the visibility of preliminary stamps, seal, and other information via a checkbox in the Object Info Palette, or perhaps via a project setting. I guess I can do this with separate classes for each object but would I prefer to keep the number of classes within a project to a minimum. Is there any way to accomplish this? Do I have to do it via marionette? If so, how to I attach a marionette routine to an existing graphic? Thanks beforehand, Rudy Beuc
  6. Hi all, Is there a way to vectorscript an automatic update of dates in the titleblock fields prior to publishing? I understand there is the data stamp tool available but it just seems more direct if there was a plugin to execute that targets the date field. Gabriel VW2017 Spotlight user MacOS
  7. Hi. I often run into this problem, that my sheet title on the title block stop linking to sheet title in the sheet editor. As well the sheet number don't link. Se attached where they don't update. When editing the title block, the parameter is set to a linked value. Does anyone have a solution to this? Best from Mathias
  8. Hi, we have an issue with a number of our sheet files where at irregular intervals our title blocks lose all of their data (apart form sheet number and sheet name) and revert back to the default values. We have a titleblock style saved in our project library, with the associated record format, and this style is then referenced in to our various sheet drawings. Periodically all the information resets itself, which is an absolute nightmare as we usually just notice it as we are preparing to issue a set of drawings with it associated other stresses 😉 We had the same issue on VW 2019, have recently updated to VW 2021 but are getting the same behaviour. Has anyone else seen similar issues?
  9. Heya Team, I am in the process of building our new titleblock in 2021, and I've hit a bit of an issue that I'm sure has an easy fix. In previous versions I have completed the titleblock and sheet border and saved it as a group symbol (with the red text) then I could save that to our symbol library which let me drag it in to a new drawing easily. I have noticed when creating symbols now, there is no group option. This means if I save my completed titleblock and sheet border as a regular symbol it doesn't work correctly when I bring it in. I would also now like to have multiple titleblocks available depending on the project. How would you suggest I save them for easy access by all of the VW users in our company? Thanks a million!
  10. Would there be some way to tag to the drop down scale selector of a viewport to then update the scale of that specific drawing Titleblock page in the future? I do find myself sometimes when having multiple pages forgetting to check when I have multiple scales between Viewports to update by hand the scale for that specific TB
  11. Honestly, is this what one can expect from VW? Please have a look at the video attached. LINK TO VIDEO: https://photos.app.goo.gl/vCbW8r4R4SMqHK5d8 I'm doing a seating plan for the arena I'm working at. And the file isn't too complex yet, size around 50mb. I've also shot the Task manager as well, so you can stats while I'm cliking about. I'm not doing to much stuff here as you can see, but still really slow. Please let me know why occure and if there's some kind of fix to it. Many Thanks! INFO: VW 2020, SP5, 64-bit Windows 10 Pro CPU: Intel i7 9700 3,00GHz 16GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super
  12. Hi all, was wondering if anyone could provide some help on how revisions and issues work with VW2020. I've got all of the text boxes etc in the title block and been looking through the title block manager but struggling to see how to actually input the data and create a revision. I have found the worksheet but again unsure how this works. Any help would the greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Vectorworks 2018 Issue. Existing titleblocks hold no placement data when updating a drawings titleblock to the current version. It forces the titleblock to away from the border and it will no long fit to page. Any tips, or is this a bug?
  14. Importing existing files from pre-2019 seems to make the title block manager system even more unstable than with a new sheet. I have had to re-input every drawing number over a dozen times as they all revert back to previous numbers when opening an individual title block. Best wait for a patch for this disastrous feature before using it. I cannot trust the title block manager system from 2019 to retain any information correctly and would recommend keeping well clear of it. The title blocks can however be ungrouped once initially set for a project and this will give the ability to change the individual sheet information easily (as normal text boxes) and so be reasonably sure it will not change back at random...it is also far quicker than using the Manager system feature. I can only assume that whoever invented the latest tilteblock feature had no idea about the commercial reality of getting drawings done quickly and accurately but was wrapped up in providing a new 'functionality' gimmick...which would be forgivable perhaps if it worked!
  15. I'm having issues with the 2018 SP3 titleblock. I've create a field that is a pulldown and defined the choices, but when I go to use that field, it gives me a check mark next to a blank value. Editing the field shows the pop-up values, but they never appear in the titleblock. Anyone else having this issue?
  16. Hello All I am having trouble getting my custom title block to be available with the use of the title block border tool. I have followed all of the steps for creating the title block and have placed it in the users/libraries/default/sheetborder-titleblocks folder but it won't show up when I create a new file and try to place it as a titleblock. Is there a step I am missing here? Thank you
  17. I there a way to make the paper size and used scales come in the titleblock automatically? As in picture 1 I am able to get the papersize in there through a record, but that's just for one presentation layer. If I make another presentation layer it will sum up the used papersizes. As you can see in picture 2 And is there a tutorial how to make a new titleblock in VW 2018? I imported this from VW 2016, but now I can't find how one thing is linked to another...
  18. Is there a way to reorganize the field in a title block?
  19. Running VW 2018 SP1 on Mac. We have a few fonts (specifically DIN) that we use for our drawings that are becoming distorted when exported to PDF. The characters become squished to look tall and narrow with lots of space between each letter. This is occurring in all text including titleblocks as well as drawing labels. Changing to a system font seems to fix this (tested with Helvetica). Unfortunately our title block was really designed around the DIN font, so changing the font would require a complete redesign of our titleblock. The problem can be fixed by checking the "rasterize text" option in the export to PDF window, but this is really not ideal. The font was working perfectly for us in VW 2017 and prior. Anybody else with font issues in 2018? Any possible solutions?
  20. Greetings, I'm having a peculiar issue with the new title block tool in VW Spotlight 2018. I'm not having any issue with placing or scaling sheet borders, however every title block I attempt to place or update from an earlier version drawing shrinks to a completely useless size. As far as I can tell there is no adjustment on this sizing and aside from custom creating a title block, I cant work with it. Am I missing something or is this part of a title block bug? I've included a test file that contains only the border and title block in question. Any insight is appreciated. In the meantime, I'll just be firing up VW2017 to use as a title block tool o_O. title test.vwx
  21. Having issues trying to get the Titleblock Style to show the file path of the drawing. Attached record, and enabled the option, yet still nothing. Has anyone else the same issue or advise me on what to do properly?
  22. Hi All, I'm a new convert to VW and I'm going through the processes of setting up a host standard drawing elements for use in the future. I've followed the guide for the custom title block creation (http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2017/eng/VW2017_Guide/Setup/Creating_a_Custom_Title_Block.htm) and for the most part it's working as expected. I have a collection of P_ and S_ prefixes that are behaving. However, the pop-up fields are only showing up on the data tab of the object info palette. When I double click the title block the field that should be a pop-up is just a standard text field that I can populate freely. Have I missed a trick? Is there some way to force the 'double click' edit of the title block to also show the pop-up fields that I defined in the record? Many thanks, Dan
  23. Hi everyone, I have been wondering the new title block feature - is there a way to callout a time stamp (as opposed to a date stamp) for the titleblock? The time stamp tool doesn't work inside of the titleblock, and was wondering how that could be fixed? It useful in determining the latest revision of a set that might've not been issued as a new revision or a new issue set. Hoping to get some suggestions. The secret i think is in the new pop-up feature shown in the sheet and project dataset? Now, only if i knew a way to callout the timestamp function....
  24. Hi, I have two separate issues. I've created a custom Smart Titleblock by editing a Vectorworks sheet border with our company logo and when I'm editing in 2d - the fonts show as desired but when I exit the symbol, they revert to some generic font. Is there anyway to change this? ALSO, when Creating Sheet Lists (Or Record Formats), is there anyway to add a record format that automatically creates assigns the Stacking Order of the sheet on the worksheet? I'd like to know what the record format for "stacking order" is. Thanks
  25. I have several VAA Titleblocks in a template. I also have a worksheet which shows the info from all titleblocks. As its in a template there are no revisions. However all the titleblocks show the current revision as A, even thou the list of all revisions shows as no entries. Images should hopefully show in more detail.
