  1. It would be relay useful to have the capability to filter for a class name when creating a new class by importing from a class library file. At present when importing from a class library file you have to scroll through many lines of classes to try and find a class name the best fits your needs especially when using Uniclass which can contain many lines of classes. It would be easer and more efficient to be able to enter part of a word to match. e.g, filtering by "stair" would filter out only classes containing stair within the class names thus shortening the list to chose from and making it easier for the user to select the correct class. It would also be useful to be able to filter the classes within the navigation palette to be able to locate classes containing a search pattern a lot quicker than manually having to search through long lists of classes as you have to do at present.
  2. ODBC and SQlite remote databases is a beautiful feature in VW. In BIM Software in reference to Architectural Drawings and the entire AEC Industry has possibly become more about referencing information than just simply drafting plans etc... This is proprietary or generic information about building products, light fixtures, furniture, etc... Managing all of this information from a single source (VW) is extremely difficult. This is why ODBC and SQLITE in VW is so useful! If information can be referenced externally, it can also be Managed externally. Additionally, it can give VW an upper leg on competition with Autodesk Revit given that much of the informational libraries for Revit have been created by Manufacturers themselves. This however can apply record information to generic symbol library and expedite the process of creating massive symbol libraries. These databases can become quite large given the number of proprietary and standard building products. This information can include a lot of information including but not limited to specifications! Currently there is not sorting feature in ODBC and SQlite window. My request is to simply at a sorting function for record information, possibly similar to the way record information is sorted in worksheets database connection. I'm not sure if this is a big ask, but I think this could start the implementation of standardization in offices large and small that use VW
  3. There are so many fields, nested fields, tabs & settings in some of the objects that a OIP-wide or Dialogue Box-wide search would be really helpful. One simple example is the Door tool. You know there is a Shim Gap field in one of the 24 tabs but don't remember which one. Generally the more detailled the dialogue is the more helpful this woud be: eg WIndow, VW Preferences, Stair, Video Screen, Soft Goods... It would be nice if holding Alt-and typing the letter would highlight and select the fields, perhaps shortening the OIP or dialogue to just those fields & tab to cycle through them.
  4. Hi All, In a large project with multiple sheets, and a good hundred or so viewports spread across these sheets - is there a way of navigating to one particular viewport, or of finding out which sheet that viewport lives on? Unfortunately the viewports have not been named so are generally called 'Viewport-1' etc.. no clue as to their location in the file.. What I am specifically trying to achieve; I can see that the visibility for a layer is only turned on in one viewport. I want to find this viewport and review the information shown there, but short of going through each sheet manually is there a quicker way of finding it?? Thanks, A
  5. Hi, Vectorworks implemented search fields in many places. One of them is the ability to search sheer layers. The only problem is that one can not search a sheet layer by sheet title, one can only search by sheet number. (results only show up if one searches the by the number of a sheet layer) I think it's very important that once can not only search by sheet number but also by Sheet Title! Hope this gets implemented in a future service pack!
  6. Why is there nothing to help me find a tool that is not in any of the tool palettes? I end up having to search Help for the probable location and switch to a workspace that has the tool. Why is there no other way to get to them? Examples I've had recently have included the grid bubble and the data tag, but it's happened many times. I asked about this in the Austin user group today and they all told me it should be submitted as an enhancement request.
  7. Hi All, Got one of those queries I feel will either have a simple answer, or be impossible.. I'm trying to locate all geometry on a certain class- Easy for the most part. However say I'm looking for an object in class 'X', but that object is in a group, which itself is in class 'Y' - How do I locate the class 'X' object in the group? Thanks A
  8. I am trying to create a worksheet with multiple formulas in it. For this I need to be able to search different criteria in each column. The type is spaces. What is the order of the text I need to input into the cell to pick up with the criteria would do in a database row? I have looked through all of the following places and it is not very clear to a novice. http://developer.vectorworks.net/index.php/VS:Function_Reference_Appendix#attrCrit http://developer.vectorworks.net/index.php/VS:Search_Criteria#Search_Criteria_Format http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2016/eng/VW2016_Guide/Worksheets/Worksheet_Functions.htm Thanks!
  9. I am noticing that many of the old forum posts are no longer available. I often will run a google search for help articles relating to topics and find several posted forum results pertaining to my issue, only to find that the articles are still linked through the old forum and I can no longer access them. Since many of my questions have probably been answered at some point, it would be great to access all that information somehow. The following is a search that yielded a post with the direct question I was looking to answer, but I can't see the answers! https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=round up in vectorworks worksheet formula
