  1. I have single symbol that has 4 different records attached. All 4 records have a common field 'Slot ID'. I am trying to put together a worksheet database of all of the objects. The criteria for the database any of the 4 records present. The column header is currently, ='Type Record'.'Slot ID'. I am looking for help to get all 4 records field 'Slot ID' to populate in 1 column. Is this possible? it feels like it should be but cannot seem to get my head wrapped around it. Any help would be appreciated.

  3. I am trying to streamline the documentation process for designed plant communities for both installation and visualizing with clients (along with my own forgetfulness). I have a resource drawing that I keep for plant objects with records attached that describes the varying interest season-to-season. I am experimenting with pulling these object styles for use with landscape areas, then using data visualization to show floral, foliage interest for a given season. This works with individual plants but not plants nested inside a landscape area style. Do landscape area styles retain records for plant styles attached to them? If so, should they show up in a data visualization with the records attached? I will try to clean up a test drawing and post on Monday. Cheers PWF
  4. It would be great if we got the option to attach a record to a symbol with the possibilty to distribute the edited information in record to all other symbols with the same name. At the moment the only way to change the information in the record and distribute it to all the symbols is through a worksheet. This is not ideal, because 90% of the time you don't have the worksheet open or ready when you are editing info in the data tab of the OIP
  5. I'm using vectorscript/python to make an list of all objects with an certain record and using information from this record. to eliminate human errors I'm starting the script with making the record so I'm certain all names and fields are correctly named. The thing that i can not get working at the moment is making an field in the record with an option module. so an field where you can not type but you have to choose between predefined options. does someone know if this is possible to create? when you make an record yourself in VW this is possible so why not with scripting
  6. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a two way worksheet? I want to be able to Edit my record from the work sheet just like how I can edit the Worksheet from my record. Attached is an example of my file with the description field being the only field I want to be able to do this to. The text is already linked to the record I just cannot figure out how to edit the worksheet and type directly into it thank you in advance for the feedback. Best Regards, Colin Devenish Practice Help.vwx
  7. I'm working on a door worksheet, and I wonder if there is some formula to count L&R Doors. I assigned a custom record to each door, with boolean parameters (one for left and other for right). Now my worksheet do the work, but I think it can improve avoiding repeated information. Perhaps I can use the function =count, with the conditional If for the record, something like this: =COUNT (If record is 'carpinterias' and value 'izquierda' is true). Is that possible? thanks in advance.
  8. We are running into an issue where data tags placed in viewport annotations continually lose their connection to the data and sometimes even shift locations to way outside of the original viewport bounds. Obviously this is a problem if we are trying to use them to annotate viewports in complex construction document sets because we shouldn't have to constantly re-spend the time associating the data tags with their objects or move them around. This is likely similar to the issue stated under this thread.
  9. I would like my marionette object node to read parameters from a database record (instead of OIP input parameters). However, it will not update instantaneously when I change the database record via worksheet (database row) or 'data' tab of the OIP. What are my options to 'bump' it, besides moving it ?
  10. In the attached photo is a custom position label symbol, with a custom record format. I am experiencing an issue where the symbol does not refresh to its previous data when executing the undo command. The top symbol shows the 'Position Label Field' with the default value P-##, and the bottom field shows the 'Position Label Field' with the modified value from the Spotlight Numbering tool, using the Object with Record option, 1. For this example I executed the undo command, and as you'll see in the OIP it reverts to the original field data, however a nudge will be required to refresh the symbol so it will update. The action of nudging symbols after undoing a numbering action is not ideal. Has anyone else had this experience?
  11. Hey, I added a small part of a script to explain where I get stuck. What I want to achieve is to link a record to each component made in the script. I want to use records because i want to filter the data. Unfortunately, I think only one record can be linked to an object-node. In my example I create 2 records (same name) and only one is visible. Is there a way to associate a record to each piece in the script? It is not necessary to see the records in the oip , if its possible to get the data in a regular worksheet it would be perfect. A worksheet in the script is possible (used custom nodes #Created by MFarrell) . In the worksheet I can see the data from the two parts created. Problem there is, if the object instance returns 5 times i get only one worksheet in the resource manager. Can someone help me out? Maybe i have to approach it differently. Every hint is welcome. 1objectnode2records.vwx

This example shows, how to create a record format with fields from an external csv or text-tab file with marionette. This example maybe needs the following know how which is not automatically is handled by the script: 1. Save Text with excel, open office or any other application as separated text file or tab separated text file. 2. Setup the "import txt" node-popup with the needed text encoding. Try utf-8, Latin1, macLatin_2 or other encoding to handle umlauts or special character issues. 3. The Exmaple just checks the first line of the text-file and creates record fields from them 4. The path to the text-input in the attached example is related to the document path. Save first your Vectorworks document. Or use an absolute path input. 5. No warranty or charge for this script, play first on a new file or on the attached file. I whish you success with it
  13. Having issues trying to get the Titleblock Style to show the file path of the drawing. Attached record, and enabled the option, yet still nothing. Has anyone else the same issue or advise me on what to do properly?
  14. Hi there, I am working on a project where i created a marionette object node (thanks to this forum it works so far) with a couple of adjustable parameters in the OIP. Is there a way to get access to those parameters to create a worksheet that lists all the object instances and there parameter settings? Before i knew marionette i used databases (records) to store all that information but within the object node i can't do it since it groups everything on the last step. I hope someone understands what i mean and ideally has an idea to make it work. thank you very much in advance Benny
  15. Hello Everyone, In a bit of a bind here. Is there an easy way to update the record information from inside the workspace after the symbol has been inserted? I noticed that It's very easy modifying records from inside a work sheet, but it it doesn't update the attached record to the symbol inside of the resource manager. Is there a way to do this? Can anyone please help? Thank you in advance.
  16. Hi there, I have a problem with the linked texts inside the symbol blocks. When I see them in any type of 3D visualization even in wireframe, I can see all the information pulled from the record without any problem, but when I try to visualize the symbol not in plan view, with the hidden line mode on, all those data disappear. Anyone knows how can I do to show the linked information inside the symbol block even in hidden line mode? Thanks
  17. I`m trying to create a bill of materials for a table design. The idea was to create a worksheet to count all the symbols in the design (every part of the table is a symbol) and add a column to type a description for every symbol. But this doesnt seem to be possible. Is this correct? I want to add text in the blue part. If this is not possible: Probably attaching record is the way to go. Only me is told that i have to 'reload/replace' all the symbols on al the design layers to give it the record/info I attached to the symbol. Is there a way to attach the record to symbol and 'send' the information in it to all exciting symbols without replacing them? Thanks!
