  1. Hey all, This is a bit of a weird one, maybe I'm missing something obvious though: In the file I am working on I've added some lighting instruments, when I select a single instrument the object info palette shows "<Multiple Values> for almost every field, except position oddly. Changing the field and pressing enter doesn't seem to change anything, though pressing edit and going into the lighting device popup the changes do seem to track through to this page. Additionally: when selecting multiple lighting instruments the object info palette shows either "No Selection" or "Lighting Device" (the difference between those two is whether I use click drag selection or single shift click selection) instead of its usual "# Lighting Devices" and the "<Multiple Values>" issue is still present. I'm also noticing that the label legend does not seem to be working in this file either. Other types of object such as hanging positions seem to be working normally in the object info palette. My other files seem to be behaving as normal in Vectorworks 2021 with an educational license, just this particular file that seems to be giving me trouble which makes me think I've done something wrong, I just can't figure what. I've uploaded the file in case you want to poke around and see. Thanks in advance for any help! -Mark PAT Rep Drawing.vwx
  2. Vectorworks has the object info palette to 'quickly' see and edit the info of a object. But for a lot of tools the information is an extreme long list of text and numbers. Making it impossible to find the setting or information you need. For example the window tool has a 3 (!!) page long list of text and numbers. I know that you can collapse part of the information but it is still hard to find anything. My whish is that VW redesign the object info palette to making it visual easier to find the information you need. A great example of how this can be improved can be seen at Archicad info box. They use icons so you can easily separate the information and find what you are looking for faster. If the information is to much they use graphical pleasing popups. Some examples of the horror in Vectorworks: How Archicad does this small edits in the info box Big edits in pop-up with nice visuals Those icons on the right is something I wish the object info palette of VW had, ping @Stephan Moenninghoff
  3. I can't modify door size in Object Info. How can I get this work? Thanks.
  4. I've noticed that when i have different projects open, that the object info palette might not display the same info for the same objects. This comes up a lot with plug-in objects. I'll open someone 's project, and the object info palette lacks info. see attached images. here i've copied some lights to troubleshoot their setup, and the object info palette shows more info in my new blank document than in the original client document for the "same" pasted light object. This is important, because sometimes you just want to make little changes without clicking through the edit dialogue, and i just like a more verbose palette...and sometimes i don't 😉 1. Can the object info palette settings be changed? 2. Is there a way to reorder the items that show up in the object info palette? thanks
  5. Happy Monday to all VW & Renderworks lovers, the Obj Info Palette currently displays if a camera is connected to a Viewport. In addition, it would be great and very useful to have the camera settings visible and edit-able here as well, without having to open and access the camera itself inside the viewport. Meaning --> at the moment I have to double click onto the viewport, open the Edit Viewport window under Camera, and only then can see and edit the camera setting for Camera Effects --> Bloom, Shutter Speed, ... Unless I am missing that this is already at hand somewhere else? Cheers, Grethe
  6. Submitted on behalf of a Vectorworks user/client. They pointed out that when Data Visualization is being used to represent values of given objects, how cumbersome it is to manually update record field values if an object changes - for example - in dimension or area etc. His suggestion is to add the capability for Record Field Values to be drawn from object values in the Shape tab of the Object Info Palette. I seem to recall witnessing an implementation of this type of thing using Marionette, but this doesn't translate or connect to the Viewport Data Visualization facility.
  7. Often it would be very useful to know an object's Z coordinate relative to the internal (global) origin in addition to the layer Z coordinate. For our architectural projects we place our site model DTM on the internal origin, so that Z coordinates on the DTM correspond to surveyed elevations. However, when working on other design layers whose layer elevations are set according to the elevations of, say, the respective subfloor, it becomes quite cumbersome to check the global Z coordinate (i.e. surveyed elevation) of any given 3D object. The addition of a 'global Z' or 'internal Z' coordinate field to the OIP would solve this handily.
  8. We have six VW seats in our office, and are all finding VW 2017 is becoming very unstable. I am having repeated crashes on my laptop (MacBook Pro running 10.12.3) & iMac (10.12.1). There seems to be no obvious function being used that causes the crash, just a sudden failure, and other users int he office are reporting similar sudden crashes. Also we are having extreme problems with the Object Info palette across all users: - Object Info palette disappears from the screen, even though it is still ticked in the Palettes menu. Unselecting & resecting it does not cause it to reappear. The solution is to quit the problem & restart, leading to several minutes of lost work time as the program restarts. - Object info palette minimises to just the top window bar & cannot be expanded again. There seems to be NO solution to this one. - Object info data disappears (boxes are empty of all object information) & the only way to solve this is to save the drawing, which causes the boxes to re-populate with the information. These repeated problems are making us very nervous about using VW with some of the larger BIM projects we are about to start work on. Is this instability something that is known about?
