    Arrow Issues in 2018 SP3

    I'm having issues with markers in 2018 SP3 on Windows 10. In old versions, markers drew perpendicular to tangent of the line they were marking at the REAR of the arrow (IE, how you would expect an arrow to be drawn. In 2018 SP3, the behavior has changed and now draws perpendicular to the tangent at the NOSE of the arrow, resulting (especially when using the freehand tool) for the arrow head to be misaligned badly (ie, having the arrow hanging off the line by its nose.) Anyone else having this issue? is there a workaround?
  2. Hi all, If the window hinge direction marker is set to "handle" (as is customary where I live), custom sash preview window always displays a flipped preview. Makes choosing handedness mighty confusing! Is there a setting to overcome this or is this a bug?
  3. I believe this happened in SP1 also. I have a drawing, with two manually selected hoists, just for example: I run the number hoists tool: Use these settings: Upon clicking OK, I receive this: (You can clearly see the two original hoists are still selected)

    Visibility Tool behavior DL vs VP

    @JimW This may be broader than entertainment only so feel free to move this to General if that makes more sense. Basically, why does the Visibility tool work differently on Design Layers vs View Ports as it pertains to what class get's highlighted when hovering over Symbols and PIOs? For example.... when I use it on a Design Layer over a generic run of P&D with the Softgoods Tool, it will highlight whatever the assigned master class of that layer is. IE: Scenic-P&D, so the item level. However, highlighting that same piece of P&D on a viewport it highlights 4-SGTS-Drapery (the pieces level) why is that? The same thing seems to happen with symbols. As @C. Andrew Dunning would say the Macro vs Micro. Class Breakdown from Softgoods Toolset.
  7. Hi, 2018 keeps driving to a complete unusable halt in my sheet layers after introducing a 3rd or 4th viewport. My drawings are pretty light and are not too complex and only rendering in wireframe (to consider another rendering format is unthinkable) the program then becomes unusable with massive delays, jerky zoom and content disappearing when zoom is halted. The same file in 2017 works fine, is this a known issue with 2018? A quick check on the system shows CPU running @6% and RAM only @ 8gb of 16gb

    Seating bounding box

    The vast majority of the time when i create a seating section, and then edit the section later, the bounding box is some how transposed from the drawn seating section. Its mostly an annoyance, but functionally it seems that if I type anything into the Object pallet the value is reflected on the seats in the perspective of the now misplaced bounding box. Making things such as setting angles very difficult, and basically a guessing game. Anyone else seeing this?

    Text Line Spacing

    When create blocks using any of the tools my text is now double spaced. I have tried adjusting text styles, but the text menu doesn't seem to affect spacing in a block. What controls text styling inside one of the tools?

    Lighting Device 3D Rotation Troubles

    I share files with a freelance LD (who is also on 2018, and we've been on the same SP's when working together) and he has said in files that originate from me, he is unable to 3D rotate a lighting device to be a floor fixture. I simply do the below and it works fine for me. And when he originates a document he can rotate them this way too, but not one from me. Just curious if anyone has any ideas.
  11. Could we have a more advanced version of render styles for SLVPs? What I would like to do - - be able to assign foreground and background render settings to a style - to create render styles that include OpenGL or other render modes with their options as a saved preset Ideally then I could have a "preview" or "working" render style and then switch to a "final" render style before rendering. Right now if I want to have my preview as OpenGL with edges and my final as a Renderworks Style background with a hidden line foreground its a lot of messing about. Kevin
  12. Hi, I'm encountering the following issue: Drawing elements (lines, polylines, text etc) won't stay in front of walls and stairs. They always eventually go behind them "automatically". Sending them to front remedies the situation for some time. After a week of working or so the lines are again behind the walls. Everything is drawn on layer plane on the same design layer. This is a nuisance since eg. my fire compartment markings will become hidden. It's especially annoying if one doesn't notice this when issuing drawings. Is there a control somewhere I'm not aware of that would remedy the situation?
  13. When I attempt to start VWx Remote Server, the application stops working and closes. (Even after a system restart) I'm running Designer 2018 Build 401138 on a Windows machine. Is anyone else having this issue?
  14. Is anyone else having issues with the class drop down menu not scrolling in windows 10 vw 2018 SP3? I have tons of class definitons that I use and it can't scroll past what is visible.
  15. Hi I noticed another bug in 2018 SP 3 on windows 10. If you use the eyedropper tool to copy the properties of one dimension to another, it does not carry the witness line override settings. does anyone have this issue as well? OSX ?
  16. Hi, There is maddening default setting in the title block editing window : When adding revisions to a sheet, the default setting is add to "All active sheets"! WHY not "this sheet only" by default? I've ended up adding wrong revisions to dozens of sheets and then having to pick them off one by one. And, for some reason, the title block doesn't update until one double clicks it - meaning the accidentally added revision is not visible, if you don't edit the title block.
  17. This happens randomly. Sometimes the line representing the top of the door is there, sometimes isn't. Any ideas? I have to draw the lines by hand, for the council would wonder.
  18. Hi, Maybe there is a way to do this, but: Often SLVP's display several designs layers. Currently, the right-mouse-click option "edit design layer" picks one the design layers, according to some unclear logic. It's impossible or difficult to choose a certain design layer for editing using this method. Perhaps a selection menu like with "select coincident objects" tool has?
  19. Hi All, Having a bit of trouble with Vectorworks 2018 in our office. We're intermittently getting a problem whereby vwx 2018 gets stuck on first opening at 'Checking Activation'. It seems to take a very long time generally, but sometimes will get stuck and the program will fail to open entirely. This has occurred on several systems, most notably one of the office brand new IMac's, so I'm convinced hardware isn't the problem. It could of course be related to some sort of network configuration issue our end, but this is not a problem anybody has had in the office running 2017. Any ideas?
  20. My dropbox folder is on an external raid array, I am unsure how to tell cloud services where my dropbox folder is as I can't find a setting that allows that. Anyone?
  21. Hi all, I'm encountering the following: The options for textures intermittently disappear from walls. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. There have been no changes made to the wall style. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is an issue with the world z not affecting the surface hatch, as well. Any ideas?

    4-16 rebounds problems

    hello everyone, I have already tried to see in a test render file how the new 2018 renderworks engine work. I also noticed that in the Indirect Light options Vectorworks now allows setting16 rebounds. But not 8. So I'm in a little Trouble, because: -with 4 rebounds I see some circle on textures (not very good to see) - with 16 rebounds there are too many reflections and the results are not how I expect. Here is an area with no light or similar, but it looks in 16 rebounds mode like an overpowered light (see the arrows) Can I fix this? PS: the pictures are in low res (50 dpi)
  23. Hi, I'm encountering zoom issues with a floating viewport. Previously this worked fine. Please see attached. I can't see my grade objects unless I zoom way back.
  24. Hi, I wonder what I'm doing wrong: I have two walls on different design layers with different elevations/heights. Previously, surface hatches have aligned nicely if "use world z for origin" has been checked. Now, it doesn't have any effect on the hatch. What might be overriding the setting?
  25. Hi all, I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this issue. While dimensioning walls, we encounter these strange orange double lines. They seem to be some kind of display artefacts, since nothing can be found where they are. Screenshots attached.
